Sunday activities for children and young people

Children’s programmes (age 0-S3) are part of the 9:30am service at Chalmers. Everyone joins together for the first part of the service, before the children and young people head out for their own activities. A group for older teenagers (S4-S6) meets at 5pm. 


Below, you'll find some mores specific information about each of the groups that meets on Sunday. For more information on where the children and young people meet, see here.

  • crèche (age 0-1)

    Practical and spiritual care for our youngest children, aged 0-1.  There are lots of toys to play with and books to read. 


    Catriona Foley heads up the crèche team, with four people caring for the children each week. 


    On Sundays crèche meets in the green room.  Children can be dropped off from 9:20am.  

  • LITTLE STARS (AGE 2)

    Songs, stories, craft and play to teach simple truths about God to children aged 2 years.


    Children stay in for the first part of the service before going upstairs to sing with Sparklers.  The Little Stars then head for their own activities.


    The Little Stars team is lead by Nicki Hall.  During school holidays the Little Stars join crèche on a Sunday.

  • SPARKLERS (AGE 3-P1)

    Songs, stories and crafts built round simple Bible stories for chidren aged 3 years up to P1 at school. Sparklers starts with action songs before engaging with Bible stories and crafts.


    Sparklers meets upstairs, with Margaret Newman heading up the team.

  • SUNDAY CLUB (P2-P7)

    Singing, games, discussion, quizzes, drama and crafts built around the Bible.


    Separate groups for P2-P4 (Solid Rock) and P5-P7 (Explorers).  There are currently four groups of 8-10 children with each group led by 2-3 group leaders.


    Sunday Club starts with a together time in the north transept. Explorers then head round to the south transept for the rest of their activities. Iain Devereux heads up the Sunday Club team.

  • Youth church (S1-S3)

    After some food and a game, the young people in S1-S3 meet together for a Bible study.  Usually a Bible book will be worked through over the course of a term.  There are also termly socials.


    Youth Church meets upstairs, with a team of four leaders headed up by Emma MacAulay.

  • CCY (S4-S6)

    Food and Bible study for S4-S6.  CCY meets in the church at 5pm on a Sunday. 


    CCY starts with a meal together before splitting into a boys' group and a girls' group to study the Bible. Like Youth Church, a Bible book is often studied over a term.
