Our minister, Robin Sydserff, leads the staff team, comprising Roger Day, Sam Orr, Jonny Gilmour, Iain Morrison, Davi de Paula, Fiona MacKenzie and Naomi Wright.
Robin’s key responsibilities at Chalmers include preaching, leadership of the Elders and staff team, strategy and pastoral care.
Prior to coming to Edinburgh in 2009, Robin spent four years as Director of Ministry at The Proclamation Trust in London. Robin is married to Sally and they have three children - Lucy, David and William.
Alongside regular preaching, Roger is responsible for small groups and leading the ministry associate programme at Chalmers. In 2017 he completed his Master of Theology at Oak Hill College. Before this he worked for St Helen's Bishopsgate in London where he was responsible for training apprentices and teaching Mark, Romans and a Bible overview in small groups.
Roger is married to Jessi and they have two children, Grace and Josh.
Sam Orr joined the staff team in August 2015 as a Minister in Training. He is now in his final year of the programme, combining theological study with working two days a week in the church. From summer 2019 Sam will lead a church plant in Colinton, with much of his time this year focusing on leading the church plant launch team. Other responsibilities include regular preaching and music.
From 2010-2015 Sam worked as a Staff Worker with UCCF in Edinburgh. Sam is married to Jen and they have a son, Toby.
Jonny leads the Cord small group network for postgraduates and young workers. He is in the first year of a four year minister in training programme. Alongside Cord, Jonny also preaches and leads services.
Before joining the staff team at Chalmers Jonny worked as a lawyer. He is married to Fiona and has a son, Finlay.
Iain began the Minister in Training Programme in Autumn 2018. Iain is part of the church plant team, and will spend much of his time this year working with Sam and the wider plant lanch team. He will also preach occasionally.
Iain completed the two year Ministry Apprenticeship Programme with Chalmers in 2018. Before that he studied Engineering at Glasgow and worked as a Youth Worker at a church in Lewis.
Davi leads the student team at Chalmers. He organises Focus, a small group network for students, and lunches for students on a Sunday. If you're an undergraduate at Chalmers, he'd love to meet you and tell you more about what's happening for students.
Graduating in Dundee, Davi worked for a year with UCCF before completing a two year apprenticeship programme at Chalmers.
Chalmers has two part time Church Administrators - Fiona MacKenzie and Naomi Wright.
Fiona joined the staff team in 2009, having worked previously as an accountant. She has overall responsibility for the administrative processes within our church life, spending much of her time on planning, development and communication.
Naomi (pictured) spent two years on the Ministry Associate Programme at Chalmers before joining the staff team in August 2015. Naomi has specific responsibility for the office and Sundays.
