Students
University is a time which is exciting, but full of challenges too. At Chalmers we want to be a
church which cares for students well, and helps them to grow in love for God as they hear
him speak in the Bible. If you’re new to church, or new to Edinburgh, we would really love to
welcome you.
Walking into a new church can be quite daunting. If you’d like, someone from the student
team would love to meet you beforehand. Please email
Adam if you’d be interested.

We love having students at Chalmers, and we put lots on to help you settle into the church family and to get to know Jesus better.
Sundays
Most students come to the 11:30am service. Listen to Jesus as we hear the Bible taught, and spend time with the church family after the service as we chat and encourage each other.
Most Sundays the students meet together for Student Lunch after the 11:30am service to eat, to get to know each other better, and to think about what the Bible has to say on various issues affecting students.
When Student Lunch isn’t running, students can sign up to be hosted by someone from church for lunch. It’s a great opportunity to get to know the wider church family better, and eat delicious home-cooking!
Mid-week
Focus is our small group network for undergraduate students. Focus meets at Chalmers on Tuesdays at 6:45pm to eat dinner together and then we break off into groups to study the Bible, pray and encourage each other. This year, Focus will be working through the book of Hebrews. To find out more about why we’re really excited about small groups, check out the video below.
Once a month, instead of Focus, the whole church family meets together to pray. It’s a great opportunity to get to know people who aren’t students, and to depend on God in prayer together.
Focus is taking a break over the summer, but the Students' book group will begin on Wednesday 31st May and will meet every Wednesday until 28th June. For more information, please email Adam Smith.
Serving
Students can serve in lots of ways around Chalmers – children/youth work, playing in the band, helping with tech, and many others! The biggest way to serve one another at Chalmers is by showing up on Sundays and Tuesdays and encouraging one another.
Student Weekend Away
The Weekend Away is always a highlight of the student calendar! Students enjoy time together in sunny Arbroath, getting to know each other better, eating heaps of home baking, and studying a bit of the Bible together.
